Yvonne Verlie Johnson, the daughter of William and Grace (Cockle) Strampe was born on June 27, 1922 in Paullina, Iowa. She attended school in Paullina and graduated from Paullina High School in 1940. After graduation she attended Stewart’s Beauty School in Sioux City. On February 13, 1951 Yvonne was united in marriage to Donald Johnson in Worthington, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple settled in Paullina where Yvonne ran her beauty shop for many years, working up till she was 88 years old. Don preceded Yvonne in death on January 9, 2002. Yvonne remained in Paullina after his passing until moving to Pearl Valley Rehab and Nursing Home in 2016. Yvonne passed away at Pearl Valley on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 reaching the age of 96 years, 8 months and 29 days.
Yvonne was a United Methodist Church Member. She was also a charter member of the Paullina Women’s Auxiliary and held the county president position for many years. She enjoyed dancing, arts and crafts, chalk drawings, singing and animals, especially her cats.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barry Johnson of Cherokee, Iowa, Patchy and Sharon Johnson of Paullina and Valerie and Delbert Dittman of Hospers, Iowa; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Don.
