In 1933, he moved with his parents to Archer, Iowa where he completed his education and graduated from Archer High School in 1935. On June 1, 1941 he was united in marriage to Patricia Saupe in the Philby Church in Baker Township of O’Brien County. After their marriage the couple lived on a farm north of Sheldon before moving to the original Saupe Farm, that farm became a Century Farm in 1988. When Bill was president of the O’Brien County Historical Society, they developed the Heritage Park in Primghar, Iowa. Bill was also active in the Prairie Queen Kiwanis in Sheldon. He enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, fishing and traveling.
