WILLARD J. “BOB” DEN BESTE
Willard John Den Beste, the son of John Henry and Wilhemina (Haze) Den Beste was born on July 3, 1917 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education in Archer. On August 6, 1942, he was united in marriage to Dorathy Jean Oldenkamp in Nebraska and to this union one daughter, Sheryl was born. After their marriage the couple farmed in many communities. They farmed near Archer, Sanborn, Sheldon, Ashton and Boyden. Along with farming he was proud to raise registered Hereford cattle. When the couple retired they moved to Ruthven, Iowa to make their home. His wife, Dorathy preceded him in death on February 19, 1998 in Rochester, Minnesota. For the last several years he has made his home in Spencer near his daughter. He passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Spencer Hospital, reaching the age of 92 years, 5 months and 16 days.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. He loved the land and his many years of farming and raising the Hereford cattle.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Sheryl and son-in-law, Joel Rose of Spencer and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister and one brother.
