She received her education in country school and later graduated from Paullina High School. On March 29, 1941, Minnie married Howard Halstrom. They moved to Paullina to make their home. They had two children, Jeff and Carolyn.
Minnie remained in Paullina while Howard served in the Army from 1943 until 1945. When he returned the couple started a trucking business, and Minnie helped Howard in the operation. Howard passed away on December 4, 2005 in Paullina and Minnie continued to live in the family home. She passed away on Friday, November 16, 2007 at her home in Paullina reaching the age of 88 years, 5 months and 1 day.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. Minnie enjoyed having coffee with her friends, golfing, bowling, fishing, watching all sports on T.V. and was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan and an Iowa Hawkeye fan. She enjoyed her family and visiting with her friends and will be remembered as a strong and independent person up until her passing.
