WAYNE L. RAYMOND
Wayne Lee Raymond, the oldest son of Lee and Wilma (DeYoung) Raymond was born February 18, 1935 on the family farm near Sanborn, Iowa. He received his education in schools at Sanborn and later in Moneta where he graduated from High School. Following high school he worked for Snider Brothers Gas Station in Hartley. He entered the Army January of 1956 serving in Germany. He was Honorable Discharged from the service January of 1959. On October 31, 1959 he was united in marriage to Beverly Toal at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar by Father Dean Walker. After their marriage the couple settled in Primghar where he was employed by Anderson Hatchery from 1959 until 1983. In 1983 he started his own small engine repair and phone repair business until his retirement in 2000. He continued to stay busy working in his shop and around the house and served as the janitor at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Primghar Care Center reaching the age of 73 years 10 months and 13 days.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar and enjoyed sports, gardening, camping and big family picnics and reunions.
Wayne is survived by his wife Bev of Primghar, two sons and their wives Tom & Shelli Raymond of Primghar and Jerry and Karen Raymond of Carroll, Iowa four grandchildren Steven, Miranda, Jalen and Peyton also one brother David and his wife Nancy Raymond of Rochester, MN; and one sister and her husband Judy and Arnie Sunde of Ankeny, Iowa; also aunts and uncles and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
