WARNEY F. BUFFINGTON
Warney Francis Buffington, the son of Sam and Jennie (Van Berkum) Buffington, was born October 2, 1922 in Rock Valley, Iowa where he grew-up and attended Rock Valley Community School System. Warney joined the United States Navy in 1942 and was discharged from the service in 1945. He was united in marriage to Christina Hector on June 17, 1946 in Sheldon, Iowa, the young couple made their home in Sheldon. Warney started working Big 4, Felco Land-O-Lakes, now known as AGP in Sheldon before retiring in 1985. Warney passed away at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, on June 2, 2014 reaching the age of 91 years and 8 months.
Warney was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon. He was a family man and enjoyed bowling on the weekends with his family. He also enjoyed traveling on vacations to the Black Hills, SD and Jackson Hole, WY and for 15 years straight they enjoyed going to Branson, MO.
Warney is survived by his wife of 67 years, Christina; and a son and his wife, Wayne and Deborah Jean Buffington of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter-in-law, Janet Buffington and her husband, Vince Kemp; 3 grandsons, Neal, Jared and Nick; a great grandson, Guston; and a brother-in-law, Bill Hector of Cookeville, TN; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Dennis Buffington; his parents and 10 brothers and sisters, Ed, Elsie, Ollie, Orville, William, Ray, Mabel, Robert J., Burdette and Esther.
