WALTER A. WIEKAMP
Walter A. Wiekamp, the son of Arie and Johanna (TeKroney) Wiekamp was born June 17, 1915, at Hospers, Iowa. He attended country school in the Hospers area. On June 30, 1939, he was united in marriage to Marion M. Dokter in Sheldon, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Sheldon where they owned and operated a trucking business. After their retirement the couple made their home in Sheldon and enjoyed spending the winters in the south. Marion became a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in George and Walter later joined her to make his home. Marion passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2001, in George, Iowa. Walter continued to make his home in George and passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at the Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids, Iowa, reaching the age of 89 years, 8 months and 6 days.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Water is survived by two sons, Norman Wiekamp of Moorpark, California and Roger and his wife, Julie Wiekamp of Newbury Park, California; a daughter, Betty and her husband Steve Bethers of Bend, Oregon; six grandchildren, Julie and her husband, Tom Risolio of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mike and his wife, Jennifer Bethers of Salem, Oregon, Chad Bethers and Jason Bethers of Bend, Oregon and Kristie Ronning of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Kimberly Ronning of Alcester, South Dakota; three great grandchildren, James Risolio of Raleigh, North Carolina and Sydney and Ryan Bethers of Salem, Oregon; a brother, Gerrit Wiekamp of Spirit Lake, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Rovina Wiekamp of Orange City, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a son, Larry Wiekamp, three brothers, William, Raymond and Albert Wiekamp.
