 Funeral services for Waldo J. Hurtig, age 91, of Paullina who passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley. His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

 Burial will be at Liberty Township Cemetery in Calumet.

 Visitation with family present will be from 10 A.M. until service time on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

 Waldo John Hurtig, the son of Hans William and Lucille (Tesch) Hurtig was born on April 26, 1933, in Paullina, Iowa. He received his education from a country school. He enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1954 and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged in March of 1956. He began his own trucking line hauling grain and livestock. He was married to Ila Bobzien and later Karen Jones, both preceding him in death. Waldo passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, reaching the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 9 days.

 He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ.

 Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Janet Rohrbaugh of Sioux City, Iowa and Julie (Eric) Leaf of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughter-in-law, Renee Hurtig; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Marge Metheny, Pam (Pat) Hill, Don (LaDonna) Hurtig, Vern (Pam) Hurtig and Rich Hurtig; also many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. 

 Waldo was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Ila and Karen, children, Vickie Hurtig, Jody Hurtig and Rhonda Van Beek, granddaughter, Tracey Reed and three great grandchildren.
