Vincent John Perrott was born June 11, 1925 in Sheldon, Iowa to Henry F. and Mae (McGrath) Perrott and passed away on November 18, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center of George, Iowa. He attended Sheldon Public Schools and in 1946, on the sudden death of his father, assumed ownership and operation of Perrott Auto Repair. On October 1, 1954, he married Lavonne Ruesch of Worthington, Minnesota. For 55 years, he operated Perrott’s Sales and Service and later started and operated Trophy World for 25 years before retiring from both businesses in 2001.
He was an active supporter of Boy Scout Troop 154, a popular teacher of small engine classes at NITC for 18 years, Past-President of Sheldon Rovers Club, and served on several local and state boards. He was a former Chairman of the Sheldon Park Commission and was instrumental in saving and redeveloping Hills Park. He was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Sheldon and a 60 year member of the Sheldon Knights of Columbus Council 1564. For 50 years, he enjoyed spending summer months at the Iowa Great Lakes first camping and later at their Lake Okoboji cottage. They spent the past eight winters at their Sun City West, Arizona home where they had many friends and was active in the Stained Glass Club. He was very proud of the successes and accomplishments of his children and looked forward to visiting them. He enjoyed traveling and visited almost all 48 contiguous states.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne of 51 years; four children, Dr. David Perrott of Salinas/Monterey, California; Linda Perrott and her fiancé, Steve Fairfield of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dr. Dennis Perrott of Atlanta, Georgia and Dale Perrott of Mercer Island, Washington; a sister and brother-in-law, Adeline and Art Van Meeteren of Sheldon, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Margaret Ruesch of Worthington, Minnesota; brothers-in-law and their wives, Larry and Peg Ruesch and Leonard and Marge Ruesch all of Worthington, Minnesota; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Leola and Louis Remmers and Norma and Leonard Eigenberg all of Heron Lake, Minnesota; three nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Robert Ruesch.
