VELMA V. WEAVER
Velma Vera Weaver, the daughter of Chris and Lena (Hinspeter) Pingel was born August 22, 1919 near Cleghorn, Iowa. She attended Cleghorn Consolidated School and graduated from there in 1937 as Salutatorian of her class. On March 15, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert A. Weaver at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She had been a member since 1957, teaching Sunday school at one time. She resided on a farm in Cedar Township, Cherokee County, Iowa since 1960. Her love of the land kept her on the farm. In her younger days she loved to sew, crochet and garden. Later years her grandchildren called her “the Cookie Lady”. Her husband, Robert preceded her in death on April 2, 2003 in Cherokee. She passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, reaching the age of 92 years, 1 month and 1 day.
