THOMAS “TOM” J. FILE
Thomas Jaynes File, the son of Russell and Minnie “Pat” (Grover) File was born October 6, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska. He moved with his family to Sheldon where he received his education in Sheldon Public Schools. He went on to join the Army during the Vietnam Conflict, serving two tours of duty. On August 18, 1973, he was united in marriage to Mary Thiessen in Gaza, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived at Fort Hood Texas, in Germany and El Paso, Texas before his discharge. The couple returned to Iowa and lived in Gaza, Sutherland and in 1992 moved to Sheldon. Tom was employed at the Fin and Feather in Sheldon and Tyson Foods in Orange City before his retirement. He passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, reaching the age of 63 years, 1 month and 4 days.
He enjoyed his animals, fishing, reading and being on the internet and e-mailing friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary File of Sheldon; two daughters, Lori Thiessen of Sheldon and Brandi Friedrichs of Mankato, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Erin File, Kayley, Gage and Brooklynn; one brother, Tracy File of Phoenix, Arizona; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dennis in 1961 and Gary in 2000.
