THEO HOOGETERP

Theo Hoogeterp, the son of Hillibrand and Anna (De Boer) Hoogeterp, was born on May 15, 1933 in Newkirk, Iowa. He received his education in the Orange City Schools. After high school he worked in upholstery and then at the Campbell Soup Cannery. Theo was united in marriage to Johanna te Velde on June 23, 1954 in Brooten, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple made their home on the south edge of Sheldon, where he built his home and the buildings to house his upholstery business. Theo had an upholstery business for 27 years; he also worked as a custodian for the Sheldon School System for 2 ½ years and at Security State Bank for 20 years. He passed away at the Sanford Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa on May 26, 2007, reaching the age of 74 years and 11 days.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed remodeling and was known as a tinkerer.
Left to cherish his memory, is his wife, Johanna of 52 years; their three children, Harlan and his wife, Aletha Hoogeterp of Canton, South Dakota; Steven and his wife, Corrine Hoogeterp of Spencer, Iowa; Karen and her husband, Steven Varner of Sheldon, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Christina, Adam, Andrew, Johanna and Johnathan; a sister, Wilma Weaver and her husband, Clyde of Milford, Iowa; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Timothy; two sisters and their spouses, Rev. Hatty “Goldie” and Charlie Duncan and Jenny and Herman Buren.
