TENA “TIMMIE” NELSON

Tena “Timmie” Reitsma Nelson, the daughter of Wren and Henrietta (Keizer) Reitsma was born March 16, 1926 at Hawarden, Iowa. Tena was united in marriage to Orville “Toots” Nelson on March 16, 1949 in Worthington, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple settled in Primghar. In 1956, the couple established Toots Tap which they owned and operated. She worked side by side with her husband until their retirement in 1976. They enjoyed fishing trips to northern Minnesota and especially their dog Heidi. Tena was a “special friend” to everyone and always willing to lend a helping hand. Her husband Toots preceded her in death on February 27, 1995 in Primghar. She passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the Lake Park Care Center, where she had made her home for the last few years.
Tena is survived by her sisters and brothers, Gertrude Prochniak of Fairmont, Minnesota; Jean and Donald Denny of Hartley, Iowa; Diane Frohwein of LeMars, Iowa; Renzella Maust of Liberty Missouri; Donald and Marilyn Reitsma of Cherokee, Iowa; Ronald and Roberta Reitsma of McPherson, Kansas and Arlene and Darrell Frerichs of Lake Park, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Delbert Nelson of Dubuque, Iowa; a host of aunts, nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
