SUSAN LENG
Susan Leng, the daughter of Clark and Lela (McClary) Young was born on October 24, 1932 in Primghar, Iowa. She attended Primghar schools and graduated from Primghar High School in 1950. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and received her teaching certificate. Returning to Primghar she taught 2nd grade for four and a half years. On October 10, 1954, she was united in marriage to Arnold Leng. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm south of Primghar where they raised their family and lived for many years. The couple retired from farming and moved to Primghar. She passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at her home in Primghar reaching the age of 81 years, 9 months and 22 days.
She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving her church in many ways. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, the Primghar Care Center and the American Cancer Society. Her family was the most important giving her great joy along with her many friends.
Sue is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Arnie of Primghar; four children and their spouses, Jean and Darryl Triplett of Primghar, Steve and Kathy Leng of Hartley, Iowa; Mary and Jim Thomson of Primghar and Jan and Mark Westergard of Omaha, Nebraska; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Proehl of Primghar; two sisters-in-law, Gretchen Young of Des Moines, Iowa and Betty Albertson of Denver, Colorado; a brother-in-law, Gerald Leng of Primghar; also other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, George and Charles Young and one sister, Lois Williams.
