STEVEN D. BETTIN
Steven Douglas Bettin, the son of Edward and Diane (Roos) Bettin was born October 21, 1982 in Primghar, Iowa with Down Syndrome. He received his education in the River Valley School in Rock Valley, Iowa graduating in May of 2005. Steve was very active in the Special Olympics, where he received the Bronze Medal in Basketball; the Silver Medal in Bowling and the Gold Medal in Track. He passed away at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, Iowa on Sunday, January 27, 2008, reaching the age of 25 years, 3 months and 6 days.
Steve was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. He enjoyed riding his bike and loved fishing. He has taught his family a lot about love, life and what was important in life. He had a heart of gold.
Steve leaves to cherish his memory his mom, Diane Bettin of Paullina; his dad, Edward and his wife, Jan Bettin of Sgt. Bluffs, Iowa; three brothers, Chad and his wife, Monica Bettin of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Daniel Bettin and Roger Bettin of Paullina; a niece and nephew, Breah and Cole; his favorite aunt and uncle, Edna and Merne Haack of Sanborn; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an aunt and uncle.
