STELLA O. REHDER
Stella O. Rehder, the daughter of August and Anna (Haese) Mews was born October 31, 1916 near Hospers, Iowa. She received her education at Zion Lutheran School in Paullina and graduated from Paullina High School. On February 18, 1934, she was united in marriage to Raymond Rehder in Paullina, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Calumet area for 45 years, before retiring to Paullina in 1979. Her husband preceded her in death on March 13, 1990 in Primghar. She remained in the family home until moving to the Paullina Care Center in October of 2000. She passed away on Monday, January 9, 2006 at the Orange City Hospital, reaching the age of 89 years, 2 months and 8 days.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet and the Women’s Fellowship of the church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, playing cards and dancing.
Left to cherish her memory is a son and his wife, Eugene and Jacqueline Rehder of Paullina, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Judy and Ronald Miller of Spencer, Iowa; Connie and Daniel Moeller of Sioux City, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, Laura Cody, Andrea Blowers, Becky Kuehl, Paul Rehder, Wade Miller, Patricia Miller, Fawn Rogers, Brenda Zylstra, Penny Blunk, Jamison Moeller, Douglas Moeller, Stacia Moeller, Michelle Moeller and Julia Moeller; nineteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Ivadell Niebuhr of Paullina, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a great-grandson, Jonathan Zylstra; a great-great-granddaughter, Trista Kay Heitritter; one brother, Marvin Mews and two sisters, Ruth Kniese and Hertha Niebuhr.
