Sharon Kaye Merley, the daughter of Wes and Wilma (Bean) Cabalka, was born on August 28, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On December 13, 1971, she was united in marriage to Paul Merley in Hartley, Iowa. Paul preceded Sharon in death on January 12, 2007. Sharon passed away from a broken heart on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Sanford Health Hospital reaching the age of 73 years, 1 month and 6 days.
Sharon loved being with family and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing FreeCell, solitaire and working on crossword puzzles.
Sharon leaves to cherish her memory, children, Neil and his wife, Nichole Merley of Ashton, Iowa, Paula and her husband, Thad Schoneman of Ashton, Iowa, Melissa Woelber and her life partner, Kevin Hakeman of Sanborn, Iowa, Cora and her husband, Larry Netz, Tina Davis both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Bill and his wife, Twila Meritt of Texas; grandchildren, Stacia Kamstra, Isaac Visser, Crystal Edwards, Sierra and Dawsin Merley, John and his wife, Ashley Merley, Brianna Vogelaar, Matthew Schoneman, Shelby Vogelaar and fianc, Viengknone, Paul Woelber and fianc, Shayna, Seth and his wife, Nichole Woelber and Devin Woelber; three great grandchildren, Rayne, Kollin and Halynn and an additional 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two sisters and their spouses, Delores and Dick Smith and Gail and Frank Rinderknecht both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Barb Merley of Sheldon, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, two sisters, a great grandchild and sister-in-law, Vicki Merley.
