RUTH PROEHL
Ruth Proehl the daughter of Clark and Lela (McClary) Young was born October 13, 1926 in Primghar, Iowa. She attended school in Primghar and graduated from Primghar High School in 1945. On January 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to William J. “Bill” Proehl in Worthington, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple farmed north of Primghar. Ruth was a homemaker and raised the couple’s four children on the farm. Bill passed on May 13, 1981 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After his passing Ruth moved into Primghar to make her home. She remained there until moving to the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa in October of 2015. She passed away at St Luke on Friday June 15, 2018 reaching the age of 91 years, 8 months and 2 days.
She was a member of the United Church of Primghar and the Baum-Harmon Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed cleaning her house and spent many hours reading.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Becky and her husband, Dennis Thoms of Mason City, Iowa and Pat Wright of Primghar, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Proehl Maybee of Henderson, Colorado; five grandchildren, Matthew Proehl, Derek Thoms, Michael and Dustin Wright and Ashley Gloden; nine great grandchildren, Jordan, Jessica, Madison, Deklan, Drew, Davis, Tristyn, John and Brady; two great great grandchildren, Ava and Alan; a brother-in-law, Arnie Leng of Primghar, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Gretchen Young of Des Moines, Iowa; also other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Tony and Mike Proehl; a son-in-law, Reitzell Wright; her parents, two brothers, George and Charles Young and two sisters, Lois Williams and Susan Leng.
