RUTH DIEKEVERS
Ruth Diekevers, daughter of Harry and Clara (De Bruyn) Pekelder, passed away September 17, 2015 at Sanford Senior Care at the age of 91.
She was born in Sheldon, Iowa on October 27, 1923. She grew up in the Sheldon area and attended the Sheldon schools. She married Harold Diekevers of Boyden on June 29, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Harold passed away on November 4, 1999.
Ruth was employed at Douglas Air Craft Company, El Segundo, California; Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Omaha, Nebraska and Sheldon, Iowa; T.S. Martin Company, Sioux City, Iowa and Diekevers & Engelsman Accounting Office, Sheldon, Iowa.
She was a member of Sheldon United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Hannah Circle and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to play golf, cards, travel and spend winters in Mesa, Arizona.
Ruth is survived by her son, Keith Diekevers of Spirit Lake, Iowa and daughter, Patty (Galen) Vollink of Sanborn, Iowa. Four grandchildren, Kelli (Don) Heilbuth of Sioux City, Iowa; Jenny (Sean) Griffin of Orland Park, Illinois; Brian (Sheila) Vollink of Archer, Iowa and Craig (Amanda) Vollink of Hospers, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren, Christian and Alex Heilbuth, Ryan, Anna, Darren and Marissa Vollink, Brayden and Paige Vollink. One sister, Ethel Roy of North Adams, Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Marvin Diekevers of Hull, Iowa; sister-in-law, Irene Ingalls of Sioux Center, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six sisters, Mary Knapp, Alice Dykstra, Harriet Ten Kley, Clara Paulson, Margaret Erkes, Lena Romig and two brothers, Herman and George Pekelder.
