RUTH ANN MOORE
Ruth Ann Moore, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Meyer) Hoger, was born on Aug. 26, 1922 at Paullina, Iowa. She was baptized on Sept. 10, 1922, and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa. She passed away on Oct. 9, 2018 at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, Iowa surrounded by her children.
Ruth was raised in Paullina, Iowa on the family farm where she worked very hard, especially after her father’s death. She moved to Los Angeles, California with her sister Mavis in March of 1942 in the midst of WWII where she worked as a ‘Rosie the Riveter’ in a defense manufacturing plant. She was united in marriage to Claude ‘Dinty’ Moore Jr. on July 9, 1944 at Grace Lutheran Church in Los Angeles. After Dinty was discharged from the Navy, they made their home in Mt. Ayr, Iowa until 1948 when they moved to Longmont, Colorado. Ruth worked as a homemaker and for Red Dale Coach Company sewing curtains for travel trailers. In June of 1971, they moved back to Paullina, Iowa where Ruth worked with Dinty at their business Moore’s Auto Electric until their retirement. After retirement they moved to Primghar, Iowa and they enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. After Dinty passed away Ruth spent winters in Colorado with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, a daily can of Dr. Pepper, crocheting, cooking for guests in her home and having her family & friends stop in for a visit. She moved to Prairie View Assisted Living in 2017, where she made many new friends and loved doing puzzles & visiting with other residents. A Celebration of Life was held on June 22, 2019 at the Lodge at Mill Creek Park near Paullina.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Arthur and Harold; sisters, Alice, Leona, Esther, and Mavis; and 3 infant children, Rebecca, Shari and Tom.
She is survived by 3 children, Steven (Barbara) Moore of Thornton, Colorado; Annette (Vick) Lusero of Monte Vista, Colorado and Denise Moore of Primghar Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Julius (Betty) Hoger of Paullina; sister in law, Lorraine Hoger of Spencer, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall
not want. He maketh me to lie
down in green pastures; He leadeth
me beside still waters. He
restoreth my soul; He leadeth me
in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort
me; Thou preparest a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
