ROSE M. WILSON
Rose Marie Wilson, the daughter of Emil R. and Rose (Wilkens) Thietje was born September 18, 1931 in Everly, Iowa. She received her education in Everly and graduated from the Everly High School in 1949. Rose went on to attend Sheldon Junior College in Sheldon, Iowa and graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and received her Masters in Education from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. On December 31, 1952, she was united in marriage to Wesley William Wilson in Sheldon, Iowa. The couples married life was spent in Sheldon. Rose taught in country schools near Everly and McIntire, Iowa, while Bud was serving in the Korean War. After his return from the service, Rose stayed home to take care of the children, while she worked on her teaching certificate. Rose taught at East Elementary School in Sheldon for 37 years. The couples retirement years were spent in Sheldon. Bud preceded her in death on October 9, 2009. Rose remained in her home until March of 2014 when she moved to the George Good Samaritan Center in George, Iowa due to failing health. Rose passed away at Good Samaritan on Thursday, June 19, 2014 reaching the age of 82 years, 9 months and 1 day.
Rose was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, the Northwestern Iowa Quilting Club, and Sheldon Garden Club. She was a Master Gardener. Dressing up as Patches the Clown and Mrs. Claus, she performed in nursing homes, the hospital in Sheldon and the Sheldon Public Library. She also enjoyed dinner date, playing cards and quilting ~ she must have given a quilt to about everyone in Sheldon.
Rose is survived by her children, Bill Wilson (Vennita) of Fort Pierre, South Dakota; Mike Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Lynn Wilson (Jaci) of Des Moines, Iowa; Laura Wilson of Clear Lake, Iowa and Cheryl Bender (Terry) of Tea, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Nicole Woessner (Joe); Wesley Tremmel and fianc, Melinda McDowell; Benjamin Tremmel, and Brody Wilson; great-grandchildren, Kassaday Summers; Krimzon Summers and Chambree Woessner; step great-grandchildren, Jacob and Andrew Woessner; and a sister and her husband, Betty (Lowell) Seiberling of Alma, Wisconsin and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Ruth Peck and a brother, Emil Thietje Jr,.
