RICHARD J. CARDIN
Richard J. Cardin, the son of Walker and Pearl (Field) Cardin was born January 22, 1942 in Hartley, Iowa. He attended school in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1960. After high school he worked in his dad’s insurance office and later worked several other fields in the construction business before going to work for the Felco Feed Company (now known as AGP) as a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Andrea Glazier on December 13, 1963 in Lu Verne, Minnesota and they made their home in Sheldon. Richard retired from AGP in 1996 after many years of service. Rich passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009 of cancer at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, reaching the age of 67 years, 4 months and 24 days.
Richard was a member of the Sheldon United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting, fishing, watching sports on T.V., raising his Labrador Retrievers, but most of all he enjoyed his grandbabies.
Rich is survived by his wife of 45 years, Andrea “Andy” Cardin of Sheldon; and their three children, Richard and his wife, Kristin Cardin of Phoenix, Arizona; Ruth Ann and her husband, Scott Borden of Sanborn, Iowa; Rachelle Cardin of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jessica Bennett; Jaymie Cardin; Madison and Wyatt Borden; a sister and her husband, Margo and Curt Johnson of Scotland, South Dakota; his mother-in-law, Ruth Glazier of Sheldon, Iowa and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Russell Glazier.
