REV. KENNETH A. MACLEOD
Rev. Kenneth Allen MacLeod, the son of William and Lillian (Ackerman) MacLeod was born February 23, 1934 in Paterson, New Jersey. He attended school and graduated from Technical High School in Paterson, New Jersey. He graduated from Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri in 1957 and went on to attend Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On August 8, 1959, he was united in marriage to Ruth Horn at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashton, Iowa, where he was serving as a summer intern. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Seminary in 1960 and was ordained at his home church, the Smith Street Presbyterian Church in Paterson on July 31, 1960. He had served at the following churches, the Old First Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield, New Jersey; the United Presbyterian Church in Traer, Iowa; Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, Iowa; for 25 years he served at the First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Iowa and before his retirement in February of 1999, he served the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park, Iowa. In March of 1999, the couple moved to Sheldon and he served part-time at the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley, Iowa and later for the First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Iowa. He was currently a parish associate of the First Presbyterian Church in Sibley as the visitation pastor and was helping in the church life of the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden, Iowa. In his ministry, he always put people first in working with the youth and with the visitation of the church. He passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at his home in Sheldon, reaching the age of 71 years, 4 months and 17 days.
He was a member of the Prospect Hill Presbytery and was active in the work and in the nominating committee. He was a member of the Prairie Queen Kiwanis in Sheldon and has served as president, he enjoyed quilting, reading and especially history, traveling and genealogy.
Ken leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ruth of Sheldon, Iowa; a son, Philip MacLeod of New Haven, Connecticut; and a daughter, Cheryl MacLeod in Singapore; a sister, Marianne Grosz of Toms River, New Jersey; a brother and his wife, Warren and Ann MacLeod of Ft. Myers, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Joan MacLeod of Paterson, New Jersey; and Gen Horn of Chandler, Arizona; 6 nieces and one nephew and their spouses; and two special grand nieces who he had the privilege to baptize, Sarah and Rachel Hand; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Everett.
