RALPH W. KRUGER
Ralph Walter Kruger, the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Steffens) Kruger was born November 17, 1921 in Primghar, Iowa. He received his education in school in Primghar graduating from Primghar High School on May 27, 1941. On December 25, 1942, he joined the Army/Air Force serving for 2 ½ years in England, France and Italy. He was discharged in November of 1945, reaching the rank of Corporal of the 9th Air Force. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the European Theater Medal. On May 8, 1947, he was united in marriage to Helen Fegebank at the home of her sister and husband, Ida and Clarence Paulsen in rural Granville, Iowa. The couple spent most of their married life in the Paullina area. Ralph worked most of his life as a garage service man and as a parts man. He was with Norman Brothers Garage for 12 years until he retired in 1976. He worked part-time for 10 years at Muller Furniture in Paullina. Ralph passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, where he resided since Tuesday, October 26, 2010. He reached the age of 88 years, 11 months and 12 days.
He was baptized on December 18, 1921 at the German Lutheran Church in Primghar and later confirmed on May 19, 1935 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He was currently a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He was also a member of the Russell West Post of the American Legion of Paullina. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Helen of Hartley; a daughter, Karen and her husband, Duane Willrett of Spencer and a son, Craig and his wife, Rita Kruger of Paullina; four grandchildren, Kristine Willrett, Kelly and her husband, Scott Pearson, Allison Kruger, and Eric and his wife, Rachel Kruger; also one sister and her husband, Janice and Donald Meyer of Arnolds Park, Iowa; also many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister and her husband, Mildred and Henry Heimensen.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 1, 2010 after 3 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 7:30 P.M. at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
