PRISCILLA DOUMA
Priscilla Douma, the daughter of Richard and Gertie (Van De Weerd) Sneller was born on April 8, 1918 in Sioux Center, Iowa and graduated from Rock Valley High School. She was married to Darold Dunn and to this union they had a son, William Bill. On April 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Larry Douma in Sheldon, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Ocheyedan, Iowa, where she was a mom, a homemaker and helped out with the farm work. Larry preceded her in death on February 20, 1981 and Priscilla moved into Sheldon and in 2009, she became a resident at the Fieldcrest Assisted Living Facility. Priscilla passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Center in Sheldon, Iowa reaching the age of 95 years, 11 months and 4 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon and the ladies circles; a past member of the Ocheyedan United Methodist Church and the ladies circles holding several offices; she was also a member of the Ocheyedan and Sheldon American Legion Auxiliary holding several offices. She was very active in the Farm Bureau, the Republican Party, as a volunteer for Blood Drives and at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care.
Left to cherish her memory is a daughter-in-law, Mary Dunn of Sheldon; two grandsons, Michael and his wife, Deanna Dunn of Indianola, Iowa; Todd Dunn and Kristena Rohlena of Cedar Rapids. Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Adam, Chloe and Brady Dunn and friend, Melodee Rohlena; as well as other relatives and friends.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Douma; a son, William Bill Dunn; her parents and three sisters, Jennie Hoekstra, Margaret Scheffer and Henrietta Sneller.
