PHYLLIS M. KAMPHOFF
Phyllis Margaret Kamphoff, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Aldrich) Delaney, was born July 2, 1921, in LeMars, Iowa. She attended a country school and public school in LeMars. On January 11, 1947, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Kamphoff in Sioux City, Iowa. After their marriage the couple settled in Sheldon where for over 40 years, they operated the Kamphoff Oil Company. Her husband preceded her in death on March 3, 1989. After his death Phyllis remained in
Sheldon, where she continued to work at Lawson’s Hardware before retiring in 2000 at the age of 79. She passed away on Friday, December 31, 2004, reaching the age of 83 years, 5 months and 29 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, the Morning Circle and the Women’s Guild of the church. She was the treasurer of the Sheldon American Legion and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for over 50 years. She was a volunteer at the Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading and cooking for her family and friends. Phyllis loved being around people!
Phyllis is survived by a son, Denny and his wife, Sandy Kamphoff of Sheldon, Iowa and a daughter, Pamela and her husband, Alfred Lee Wassenaar of Sheldon, Iowa; also 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, six sisters, Charlene Boyle and Alwayne Klemme both of LeMars; LaVonne Brouillette of Salix, Iowa; Esther Auck and Kathern Tapp both in California and Thelma Coats of Oklahoma; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Marilyn and three brothers, Ellsworth, Gerald and Bill.
