PATRICK E. McGILLICK
Patrick Edwin McGillick the son of Edwin Patrick and Mary Lula (O’Connor) McGillick was born on November 27, 1930 in Yankton, SD. He attended school in Irene, SD and graduated from Irene High School in 1949. On August 7, 1951, he was united in marriage to Angela M. Courtney at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton, SD. After their marriage the couple farmed near Irene, SD, and in 1959 they moved to Sheldon, IA where Pat worked for International Harvester. From 1961–68, Pat owned and operated the Culligan Soft Water Co. in Pocahontas, IA. From 1968–84, he owned & operated the International Harvester Dealership - McGillick Inc. in Sheldon and from 1984 until his retirement, Pat did custom combining and baling, sold seed corn and rented out Ryder Trucks. Pat passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, reaching the age of 79 years, 6 months and 21 days.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church; he was a 50 year member of the Sheldon Knights of Columbus Council #1564 and had been the Past Grand Knight of the Pocahontas Council. He loved watching the Twins, Hawkeyes, Phoenix Suns, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame; he also enjoyed golfing and growing tomatoes in his later years.
Pat leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Angie of Sheldon; and their 7 children and their spouses, Margaret “Peg” and Rollie Noem of Hill City, SD; Colleen and Doug Perry of Sheldon, IA; Katherine “Kate” and Dale Ryen of Worthington, MN; Mary and Jon Vaske of Sioux Falls, SD; Edwin “Ed” and Carolina McGillick of Keller, TX; Ann and Mike Young of Boone, IA; and Marie and Todd Kruger of Sheldon, IA; 23 grandchildren, Josh and Stacy Noem, Molly and Neil Fulton, Emily and Jesse Herrera; Matthew Perry, Jill and John Hall, Kelly and Matthew Buyske, Todd and Kellie Perry; Justin, Paul and Steven Ryen; Brandon and Sarah Nelson, Ashlee, Rylee and Courtney Nelson; Patrick and Julia McGillick; Jacob, Katie, Meghan and Ryan Young; Kurt, Kori and Kaci Kruger; 11 great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 infant grandchildren, Gregory Perry and Bridget Young; and his parents.
