ORVAL H. HOLCK
Orval Henry Chris William Holck, the son of George and Della (Schulz) Holck and who was raised by his Uncle and Aunt, John and Bertha Schulz was born July 30, 1918 in Paullina, Iowa. He graduated from high school in Alberta, Minnesota. On October 12, 1938, he was united in marriage to June Eileen LeSage in Morris, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple made their homes in Donnelly, Minnesota; Spencer, Iowa and Paullina, Iowa. Orval engaged in farming, ran a bar and worked for Northern Natural Gas for 20 years. Before his retirement, he was a self-employed painter in the Paullina area. The couple’s retirement years were spent in Paullina and they enjoyed spending their winters in the South. Orval passed away at his home on Saturday, March 1, 2008, reaching the age of 89 years, 7 months and 1 day.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.
Orval’s memory is cherished by his wife of 69 years, June of Paullina; three children and their spouses, Neil and Helen Holck of Trenton, Missouri; David and Leslie Holck of Duluth, Minnesota and Melinda and Thom Kimblad of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; also eleven grandchildren, Adam Holck, Trisha Holck, Collette Kaster, Dennis Kaster, Stephanie Schultz, Heather Schultz, Christopher Schultz, Cathie Shepherd, Jack Shepherd, Tim Spaan and Don Spaan; also twelve great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie Hardin of Larrabee, Iowa; and a brother, Virgil Holck of Fontanelle, Iowa; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his uncle and aunt and one sister, Mavis Slinger.
