NORMA ROHDE FERGUSON
Norma Heinl Rohde Ferguson, the daughter of Edward and Adele (Ewoldt) Heinl was born on July 24, 1915, on a farm near Calumet, Iowa. She received an eighth grade education in the rural schools near her childhood home. She was united in marriage to Ernest Rohde on February 25, 1933, in Canton, South Dakota. They made their home on a farm near Hartley and Sutherland, moving to Hartley on March 1st, 1964. To this union was born six children, Clarence Rohde, Donald Rohde, Darlene Fink, Burdette Rohde, Joan Selk and LeRoy Rohde.
After her children were grown, she worked as a waitress, cook for five and a half years at the Hartley Hospital, Superior Manufacturing, also doing house work.
Ernest passed away on January 8, 1983. On September 24, 1988 she was united in marriage to Edward Ferguson at Everly, Iowa. They continued to make their home in Hartley.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley. She enjoyed reading, doing needle work and crocheting, making things for family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edward, of Hartley, children, Clarence and Kris Rohde, Fremont, Nebraska; Donald and Jane Rohde, Cambridge, Iowa; Darlene Fink, Acampo, California; Burdette and Joan Rohde, Paullina, Iowa; Joan and Gary Selk, Sacramento, California; LeRoy and Ruth Rohde, DeWitt, Iowa; two stepsons Donn and Douglas Ferguson, in Alaska; two sisters, Edna Negus, Sutherland, Iowa; Velma Crimmins, Berlson, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son-in-law, Dale Fink and her parents.
Norma was a devoted wife and mother to her family and was beloved by all.
