NORINE C. (SHEA) WRIGHT
Norine Catherine Wright, the daughter of John and Louise (Halbach) Shea was born September 3, 1917 on the family farm northwest of Primghar, Iowa. She received her education in country schools and later graduated from Primghar High School in 1934 as valedictorian of her class. She received normal training and taught country school both in Summit and Center Townships in O’Brien County from 1935 until 1946. During this time she took classes at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She later taught in the Everly Public School from 1946 until 1950. On January 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Reitzell Wright at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar. After their marriage the couple settled on the Wright family farm east of Sanborn, Iowa, where they farmed for many years. Her husband preceded her in death on February 9, 1997 in Sanborn. Norine continued to make her home on the family farm until moving to the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn in January of 2005. She passed away at Prairie View on Friday, April 24, 2009 reaching the age of 91 years, 7 months and 21 days.
She was a member of the St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Sanborn and the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed the family farm, raising her family, gardening, being outdoors and tending to her chickens.
Norine is survived by four sons and their wives, Eugene and Diane Wright of Wayzata, Minnesota and their three daughters; Wray and Rachel Wright of Sioux City and their five daughters and four sons; Joel and Kathy Wright of Sanborn and their son and daughter; Reitzell and Patricia Wright of Primghar and their two sons and a daughter; seventeen grandchildren, Danielle and Benjy Schirm; Makenzie Wright; Natasha Wright; Heather and Corey Loreth; Wray R. Wright; Sheriffa and Darrin Jones; Heath and Amanda Wright; Shannon Wright; Sheena Wright; Nolan Wright; Alexis Wright; Buckley Wright; Ethan Wright; Jennifer Hoover; Michael and Anne Wright; Dustin Wright and Ashley Wright; four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Campbell Loreth, Olivia Jones and Tristyn Wright; a sister-in-law, Ann Shea of Primghar; also nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Donald Shea and two sisters in infancy.
