Nancy Ellen Puhrmann, the daughter of Ralph H. and Viola G. (Peterson) Gieser was born, January 21, 1943 in Sibley, Iowa. She attended country school and later Sutherland High School. While on the family farm she babysat and helped with the farming at home and with neighbors. On September 18, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Puhrmann at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hartley, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed northwest of Paullina for many years. Nancy helped Bob on the farm and raised her family. She enjoyed her animals, the farm cats, dogs and cows, especially her red cow. In 2010, the couple moved into Paullina. Nancy passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Mercy One Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, reaching the age of 76 years, 9 months and 21 days.
She was baptized on April 11, 1943 and later confirmed on April 14, 1957 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hartley and was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She was active in her church by being a member of the Pairs and Spares, the prayer chain and was a prayer partner for the confirmation students. She enjoyed playing the accordion, playing cards, bowling (member of the Alley Kats) and using her camera by taking many pictures. Family was very important to Nancy and she loved family get-togethers with her children and grandchildren.
Nancy leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 59 years, Bob Puhrmann of Paullina; two sons and their wives, Kevin and LuAnn Puhrmann of Paullina and Steve and Debbie Puhrmann of LeMars, Iowa; five grandchildren, Kimberly Puhrmann of Lake Johnson, Texas, Kayla Puhrmann of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kyle (Lisa) Puhrmann of Paullina, Stephanie Puhrmann of Carroll, Iowa and Lisa Puhrmann of LeMars, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Kade and Levi Puhrmann, Leelyn and Lillian Abler and Emma Yungclas; sister, Sandra (Ronald) Zelewski of Orange City, Iowa; brother, Thomas (Gail) Gieser of Sheldon, Iowa; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Gerald) Lange of Sutherland, Iowa; also other relatives and many friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall
not want. He maketh me to lie
down in green pastures; He leadeth
me beside still waters. He
restoreth my soul; He leadeth me
in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort
me; Thou preparest a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
