MINNIE DETHMERS
Wilamina “Minnie” Dethmers, the daughter of Henry and Jeanette (Top) Van Veldhuizen was born June 28, 1915, in Boyden, Iowa. She received her education in country schools and finished her high school education through a correspondence course in 1959. On August 7, 1936, she was united in marriage to Robert Dethmers in Boyden, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Omaha, Nebraska for one year before moving to Boyden. Her husband preceded her in death on June 1, 1974, in Orange City. She continued to make her home in Boyden until moving to Landsmeer Retirement Community in 2000 and to Orange City Hospital Long Term Care in 2002. She passed away on Friday, December 31, 2004 at the Long Term Care in Orange City reaching the age of 89 years, 6 months and 3 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden. She enjoyed knitting and needle work.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memory a daughter and her husband, Judie and Jim Koerselman of Boyden and a son-in-law, Jerry Sittser of Spokane, Washington; also 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Lynda Sittser; a granddaughter, Diana Jane; her parents; two brothers and four sisters.
After the memorial service relatives and friends
are invited to join the family at the
Demco Community Center in Boyden
