Mina Thompson, 90 years of age, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020
at Prairie View Nursing home in Sanborn, IA.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.
Mina was born on October 25, 1929 to the late Daniel and Matilda Cooper. She was the
youngest of five children, who all preceded her in death.
Mina married Martin B Thompson in 1945 and three children were born from the union.
Mina and Martin made their living by farming and running an apartment complex in
Primghar, IA. Mina had a strong love for flowers, which drove her to
open a flower shop and greenhouse in Primghar as well.
Mina's hobbies included gardening and collecting antiques. She loved to go to
auctions and flea markets in search of the "rare" item. This in turn fueled
another hobby by necessity...restoring old homes; mainly because she needed a place to store all
that treasure.
Mina exemplified what it means to be a strong, independent, determined person and demonstrated
these qualities in all aspects of her life. Mina’s legacy and stories will continue to live on in the hearts
and minds of those that were blessed to be part of her life.
Mina also took great joy in watching her grandchildren plant hundreds of flowers
in her various gardens every summer. She taught her family what it meant to be
strong, smart, and determined.
Mina leaves her children, Martin Charles, Mary, and Mark: 8 grandchildren: 4 great grandchildren.
