Mildred attended Lutheran school in Paullina. On February 22, 1939, she married Raymond (Ray) Herman Kruse at her parent’s home in Paullina. For years Mildred and Ray enjoyed card games with several couples who would meet at each other’s homes. Many nights of laughter were shared. Mildred also enjoyed playing cards and checkers with her children and grandchildren. She never lost a game on purpose. She was an excellent cook with many specialty dishes that are vividly remembered by her family and friends. The grandchildren’s best memories would be centered around “staying night” at Mildred’s and Ray’s home and the holiday gatherings.
