MARY ELLEN YENZER
Mary Ellen Yenzer, the daughter of Carl and Mildred (Harris) Metzger, was born July 8, 1957 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Mary Ellen attended school in Janesville, Iowa and graduated from Janesville High School in 1974, she then attended two years at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. She joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. It was there that she was united in marriage to Bruce Lee Yenzer on June 29, 1988 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The couple lived in Honolulu for several years after their marriage. When Bruce retired from the Navy, they moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin for a year, before moving to Sheldon, Iowa in 1994. For the past year she has worked at Siouxland Floral in Hull, Iowa. Mary Ellen passed away at her home in Sheldon on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, reaching the age of 48 years, 6 months and 2 days.
Mary Ellen was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a Master Crafter; she has won numerous awards at county fairs for her handiwork and has had several articles published on her in local papers. She also enjoyed painting and sewing; for Halloween, she had made Santa helper costumes for four young ladies and at Christmas she made Christmas ornaments for her nurses.
Mary Ellen leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Bruce Yenzer of Sheldon, Iowa; two daughters, Sara and Lauren Yenzer both at home; her step-mother, Madeline Metzger of Waverly, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Claudia and Lorenzo Alvarado of Devine, Texas; Aryvella and Norman Fink of Janesville, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Carl and Terri Metzger of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and an infant sister, Priscilla Metzger.
