MARY ANN KRACKE
Mary Ann Kracke, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Struve) Beermann, was born September 3, 1926 in LeMars, Iowa. She attended country school and later graduated from Paullina High School in 1945. She went on to attend Morningside College in Sioux City and received her teaching certificate and began teaching. On June 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Nyle Kracke in Marcus, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived on a farm outside of Paullina. The couple lived in Kansas and later Colorado where Mary Ann worked various positions, working in a motel, cooking in a school. She later returned to Iowa and to Marcus to help care for her father in 1980. She moved to Paullina in 2004. She passed away at the Mercy Medical Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, reaching the age of 78 years and 11 months.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She was a very good cook and enjoyed crafts, knitting, especially mittens and afghans and enjoyed helping other people.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Sheila Ann Kracke of Rochester, Washington and a son and his wife, Kevin and Joy Kracke of Seattle, Washington; a grandson, Jason Lee Kracke and two great grandchildren, Clayton and Corin Kracke; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
