MARVIN GUTHRIDGE
Marvin Guthridge, the son of John and Edna (Downey) Guthridge was born on June 30, 1943 in Correctionville, Iowa. He received his education in Sutherland where he graduated from Sutherland High School in 1962. He was united in marriage to Alice Buse on June 30, 1962 at the Congregational Church in Primghar, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled in the Sutherland area where they began farming. Alice preceded Marvin in death on September 15, 1996. Marvin passed away at his home on February 7, 2014 reaching the age of 70 years, 7 months and 7 days.
Marvin enjoyed spending time with family and friends, farming, raising cattle and he broke in over one thousand horses over his lifetime.
Marvin leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Joel and his wife, Carla Guthridge of Lawton, Oklahoma; Jon Guthridge of Peterson, Iowa; grandchildren, Lauren and Aaron Guthridge; one sister, Irene Bibler of Alta, Iowa; three brothers, Russell Guthridge of Aurelia, Troy Guthridge near Iowa City, Iowa and Vernon Guthridge of Peterson, Iowa; also nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his parents, two brothers, Roland and Louis Guthridge and a sister, Evelyn.
