Martin Ennema, age 76, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley. Funeral Services will be Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Rev. Bill Van Der Heide officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be Friday, prior to the funeral service from 9:30 A.M. to time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in Marty's name. Martin John Ennema was born on June 15, 1939 in Orange City, Iowa. He was the son of Sam and Lucy (De Jager) Ennema. He lived his youth in Sheldon, Iowa where he attended school. He was a baptized member of the Christian Reformed Church. He married Marilyn Sterler of Ashton, Iowa on February 16, 1960. They lived in the Sheldon area and later divorced. Marty was an over-the-road truck driver. He drove for Van Wyk Trucking, Schusters Trucking, Vande Weerd Trucking, and Double O Trucking, retiring when he was 65. He enjoyed having coffee and never met a stranger. His favorite holiday was Christmas and he enjoyed Christmas shopping and adding a comical twist to it. Marty especially enjoyed being around his family and making people laugh with jokes and comical birthday cards. He will be remembered as a happy person. He passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, Iowa. Those left to cherish his memories are his children: Rhonda Olson of Spencer, IA, John and Roswitha Ennema of Severna Park, MD, Terry Sterler of Keller, TX, Mark "Buck" and Cindy Ennema of Spirit Lake, IA, Tom and Kathy Jo Ennema of Spirit Lake, IA, Mat and Jenepher Ennema of Sheldon, IA, Lee and Angalea Snyder of Fort Dodge, IA; daughter-in-law: Jill and Scott Koedam of Sheldon, IA; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Gertrude "Trudy" Woudstra of Sheldon, IA and Dorothy Zuercher of Sheldon, IA. He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Ennema, son-in-law, Kent Olson, his parents, Sam and Lucy Ennema, brother, Larry Ennema, 3 sisters, Margaret Hackett, Berdella Brown and Kathryn Vander Plaats.
