MARGET KIMBLAD
Marget Bertina Kimblad, was born July 10, 1917 in Paullina, Iowa. Her parents, Bert and Gertie Axdahl, farmed in O’Brien County near Paullina. Marget was the eldest of five children and the only girl. She was very close to her brothers, Gilbert, Bentley, Lester and Martin. Marget attended Paullina High School and graduated in 1936. She married Art Kimblad on March 30, 1941, and they began their life together farming north east of Paullina. They welcomed their daughter, Myrna Joyce, on September 1, 1950. Moving to the town of Paullina in March of 1980 was a real highlight in Marget’s life. She truly loved living in town and was so thankful for her wonderful friends and neighbors. Marget was a lifelong member of Siloam Lutheran Church. She was baptized, confirmed and married there. Becoming a grandmother was a tremendous joy for Marget. Her only granddaughter, Lindsey Marit, was born February 28, l985. Grandma had a wonderful knack for finding just the right outfit or toy for Lindsey. Myrna and her husband, Geary Dollar and Lindsey and her fiancé, Andrew Reisbeck reside in Denver, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband Art on August 12, 1997. She is survived by her daughter and granddaughter, her brother, Lester and his wife, Evelyn from St. Paul, MN; her brother-in-law, Carl Mathern from St. Paul, MN; her sister-in-law, Ellen Kimblad from Spencer, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Marget passed away May 3l, 2008, after struggling for many years with Alzheimer’s disease. It was difficult for her family and friends to watch the changes caused by the disease with each passing year. And now at her journey’s end, she is with the Lord in peace.
