MARGARET R. ROLSTON
Margaret Rose Rolston, the daughter of John and Rose (Kaiser) Winkel was born on March 27, 1912 at Melvin, Iowa. She attended country schools and later graduated from Melvin High School where she played basketball. On November 19, 1937, she was united in marriage to Megrum J. Rolston at her parent’s home in rural Sanborn, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed northwest of Sheldon for many years before retiring in 1974. The couple remained on the family farm. Her husband preceded her in death on May 15, 1996 in Sheldon. After her husband's death, Margaret moved into Sheldon. She moved to the Northwest Iowa Health Center ~ Senior Care in October of 2000. She passed away at the Senior Care on Thursday, January 26, 2006, reaching the age of 93 years, 9 months and 29 days.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in rural Sheldon. She enjoyed the cabin at Lake Okoboji, watching and feeding birds and gardening.
Left to cherish Margaret’s memory are a daughter, Janice and her husband, Dwight Fritts Jr. of Waterloo, Iowa; two sons, Jerry and his wife, Leona Rolston of Russellville, Arkansas; Ray Rolston of Spirit Lake, Iowa; also nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, Verna Hastings; and two brothers, Russell and Clarence Winkel.
