MABEL VIFIAN
Mabel A. Vifian, the daughter of Carl and Bertha (Mell) Schultze was born February 20, 1911 in Apache, Oklahoma. She moved with her family to the Sheldon area where she received her education in a country school near Ritter. She made her home with her family on the family farm and when her parents moved to Sheldon, she continued to make her home with them. On June 16, 1957, she was united in marriage to Charles Vifian at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. After their marriage the couple farmed near Worthington until retiring and moving into Ocheyedan. Her husband preceded her in death on May 3, 1972. In 1979, Mabel moved to Sheldon to make her home. She remained in Sheldon until entering the Cherokee Nursing and Rehab Center in Cherokee, in April of 1999. She passed away at the nursing center on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 reaching the age of 97 years, 10 months and 17 days..
She was baptized on April 14, 1911 in Apache, Oklahoma and later confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon in 1925. She was a long time member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon. Mabel enjoyed playing cards and needlework.
Mabel is survived by a sister-in-law, Hazel Schultze of Cherokee as well as cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Robert Schultze.
