LUETTA M. DAU
LuEtta Mae Dau was the daughter of John and Sophie (Ebert) Mesner was born August 14, 1931 in OBrien County, Iowa. She was baptized on August 31, 1931 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown by Pastor Steger. LuEtta received her grade school education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. She was confirmed on April 14, 1946 by Pastor Jergens at St. John Lutheran Church. She attended high school in Paullina and graduated in May of 1950. LuEtta was united in marriage to Leslie Dau of Holstein, Iowa on March 30, 1952. The couple farmed the family farm until retiring and moving to Paullina in February of 1993. She passed away on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at her home in Paullina reaching the age of 82 years, 7 months and 18 days.
She was a lifelong member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown, and the Ladies Aid of the church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Northwest Iowa Polio survivors. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and making meals for all of them.
LuEtta leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Les of Paullina; three children, Marcia and her husband, Duane Ryken of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Pastor Lynnford and his wife, Ginger Dau of Foxhome, Minnesota and Nathan and his wife, Wendy Dau of Cocoa, Florida; four grandchildren, Tricia and her husband, Matt Nussbaum of Chicago, Illinois; Matthew and his wife, Amber Ryken of Beresford, South Dakota; Leann and her husband, Nicholas Roberts of Stillwater, Minnesota; Carrie Dau of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three great grandchildren, Everett Ryken, Benjamin and Madilynn Roberts; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Leroy Mesner and two sisters, Marcella Appeldorn and Ella Appeldorn; also step brothers and step sisters.
