LUCILLE M. JOHNSON

Lucille Marie Johnson, the daughter of Vern A. and Marie (Eulberg) Cook was born July 7, 1915 near Granville, Iowa. She received her education in schools in Sanborn and graduated from Sanborn High School. After high school she worked at Livingston’s Department Store in Paullina. On July 27, 1938, she was united in marriage to Alvin J. Goodmanson. After their marriage the couple lived in Sioux City for a short time until W.W. II when Alvin went to service, Lucille moved home to live with her Dad. After the war the couple operated a hardware store in Sanborn. Alvin passed away on July 23, 1950. She moved to Mankato, Minnesota, where she attended Business College for a year. On August 20, 1958, she was united in marriage to Harry Johnson. The couple made their home in Mankato where she was employed at the office of Dr.s Johnson & Lindbloom. Her husband preceded her in death on January 28, 1974. Lucille remained in Mankato until moving to Sheldon to make her home at Fieldcrest Assisted Living. She remained there until entering the Paullina Care Center in February of 2007. She passed away at the care center on Sunday, October 21, 2007 reaching the age of 92 years, 3 months and 14 days.
While living in Mankato, she was very active as a volunteer in the American Red Cross for 38 years and donating 81 pints of blood. She was nominated for the Jefferson Award for her volunteer work and also the Presidents Volunteer Action Award. Lucille enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting and she also taught her nieces to do these crafts.
Left to cherish her memory are a sister, Theo Willey of Paullina; a sister-in-law, Gerry Cook of Webster City, Iowa; nieces, Marla Erick of Paullina; Janis Cook of Stratford, Iowa; Ronda Noel of Urbandale, Iowa; nephews, Rodney Cook of Urbandale, Iowa; Daniel Cook of Luverne, MN, and Ron Cook of Littleton, Colorado; also great nieces and nephews, a daughter-in-law, Jan Johnson of Mankato, MN; grandchildren, Alice, Joyce and Paul; also great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, two brothers, Art and Ron Cook and a nephew, Roger Willey.
