Lorin Brookfield, age 76, of Paullina who passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Sanford Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church in Paullina with Pastor Marj Feltman ~ officiating.
Burial with military honors will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation with family present will be from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

Lorin Brookfield, the son of Beryl and Arlene (Andersen) Brookfield was born on February 2, 1945, in Cherokee, Iowa. He attended Sutherland School and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1963. After school is attended meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio. In 1964, Lorin was drafted during the Vietnam War being honorably discharged in 1965. On August 16, 1969, Lorin was united in marriage to Ragean Painter at the Sutherland Methodist Church. In 1976, Lorin bought United Foods in Paullina. He enjoyed his customers for 39 years retiring in 2015. The couple remained in Paullina after his retirement. Lorin passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the Sanford Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 76 years, 6 months and 11 days.
Lorin was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church in Paullina where he had served as an elder. He enjoyed watching the Vikings, Hawkeyes and Dale Earnhardt. He collected Coca-Cola merchandise and had a Budweiser Stein Collection. He also enjoyed working in his garage and yard, bowling, golfing, going to car shows, and getting together with friends. He loved his Chevy’s and El Camino but most of all he loved his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Ragean, two sons, Steve Brookfield of Brandon, South Dakota and Todd Brookfield of Hartley, Iowa; grandchildren, Adam, Katlyn, Austin, McKenzie, Brian and Dakota; great grandchildren, Ellie, Avery, Lily, Ayden, Brantley, Maci, Amelia, Michael, Rykar, Lillianne, Willa, Zander and one due in December; one sister, Jean (Larry) Dau of Primghar; brother-in-law, Lonnie (Dee) Painter of Fulton, Illinois; god-children, Dawn Jensen and Andrew Dau; aunt, Beverly Andersen; many nieces, nephews and many friends.
Lorin was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Hunter; great granddaughter, Zoie; grandmother, Alma Smith, brother, Richard “Dick” Brookfield, and aunts and uncles.
