Lois Irene Painter
Lois Irene Bonath Painter, the daughter of Elmer and Lois (Emery) Bonath was born, December 8, 1921 in Center Township, OBrien County, near Primghar, Iowa. She attended school in Primghar and Archer, graduating in 1939 from Primghar High School. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City and received her normal training certificate and taught in country schools in OBrien County for several years. On December 30, 1941, she was united in marriage to Raymond Painter at the Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. In 1947, they moved with their two children to Sloan, Iowa where Raymond was in business. She substitute taught in the Sloan Consolidated School system. Her passion was kids and she babysat in the home and care for many children throughout those years. They moved to Sutherland, IA in 1969 where her husband died on June 15, 1983. After his death, she moved to Primghar where she resided until her death. She had lived in Prairie View Care Center since January 2013. Irene passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn reaching the age of 95 years, 9 months and 27 days.
She was a member of the United Church of Primghar and the American Legion Auxiliary. She liked poetry, music, puzzles of all kinds, playing 500 and visiting. She loved baseball and kept abreast of the team trades and players with her grandsons. She held the womens bowling league game high of 233 for several years.
She leaves to cherish her daughter, Ragean and Lorin Brookfield of Paullina; son, Lonnie and Delores Painter of Fulton, IL; grandsons, Steven Brookfield of Sioux Falls, SD, Todd Brookfield of Hartley, IA and Ryan and Cara Painter of Medina, MN; two great grandsons, Adam Brookfield of Manning, SC and Austin Brookfield of Hartford, SD; two great granddaughters, Katlyn Brookfield of Sioux Falls, SD and Adley Painter of Medina, MN; one step great grandson, Brian Kladstrup of Boaz, AL; two step great granddaughters, McKenzie Larson of Sutherland, IA and Dakota Hellmann of Sioux Falls, SD; one great-great grandson, Avery Brookfield of Sioux Falls, SD and one great-great granddaughter, Elliana Brookfield of Manning, SC; three step great-great grandsons, Brantley, Michael and Rykar and three step great-great granddaughters, Maci, Amelia and Lilliann; one brother, Harold Hal Bonath of San Antonio, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Elmer Lloyd in infancy, Arthur and Robert; three sisters-in-law, Doris, Mary and Ruth; great granddaughter, Hunter and a great-great granddaughter, Zoie.
Our family wishes to than Hospice and Prairie View Care Center and their wonderful staff who cared for our Mother. She truly loved you all.
