LLOYD C. BRINKMAN Lloyd Brinkman, the son of Gerrit and Ruth (Kreulen) Brinkman, was born November 16, 1917 in Sheldon, Iowa. As a young child he moved to Matlock, Iowa, receiving his education in the Matlock Public School and graduating from Sheldon High School. He attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, prior to entering the United States Army in May of 1941. Lloyd served in the Army Corp of Engineers stateside and in the Philippines before being discharged in 1946, with the rank of Captain. Lloyd was united in marriage to Lorraine Beldt on November 29, 1941 in Lebanon, Missouri. The young couple made their home in Matlock, Iowa, where Lloyd was the co-owner of Brinkman Produce until 1965, at that time he joined the Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company as an agent until his retirement in 1994. His wife, Lorraine preceded him in death on November 24, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa. On August 25, 1962, Lloyd and Jeanette Susan Gysbertsen were united in marriage in Struble, Iowa and they made their home in Sheldon, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2003 in Sheldon, Iowa. Lloyd passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, reaching the age of 87 years, 3 months and 24 days. He was member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Sheldon and a very active member of the Sheldon Knight’s of Columbus #1564 and has been the treasurer for the organization for the past 13 years. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post # 7354 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles both in Sheldon. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. Lloyd leaves to cherish his memories, 2 sons and their wives, Lyle C. and Sue Brinkman of Lexington, KY; Lowell J. and Sheri Brinkman of Omaha, NE; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer and Ben Durant; Christopher and Kristy Brinkman; Jeffrey and Michelle Ferzley; Jamie and Dariush Ghaffari; 4 great-grandchildren, Matthew Durant; Joshua and Jonathan Ghaffari; and Autumn Ferzley; 2 brothers and their wives, Gerald and Jeannette Brinkman of Howard, SD; Ronald and Donna Brinkman of Sheldon, IA; and a sister, Ruth and her husband, Donald Lenderink of Orange City, IA; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by both of his wives; his parents; and a brother, Lt. Elmer P. Brinkman (MIA – 1942).
