LILLIAN F. KREKOW
Lillian F. Krekow, the 2nd of three children, was born to Walter and Pansy Richardson of Elmira, Missouri, on July 24, 1916. She was educated in the Elmira school system and later began taking college classes. After a period of time she was employed as a deputy sheriff in Clay County, Missouri, and remained in that position until moving to Williamsburg, Iowa, when she was married.
Lillian moved to Sutherland, Iowa, in the spring of 1954 and later married Martin C. (Pete) Krekow, a local contractor and builder. After the passing of Martin, in 1971, Lillian continued her involvement in raising her children. When all of her children had graduated from high school, she became employed as a housemother at Westmar College of LeMars and later as a housemother at Buena Vista College of Storm Lake. During this whole period of time, she became more active in her interest of the Iowa Federated Women’s Club and at one time, was the State President. Lillian passed from this life on December 4, 2005 at the Orange City Hospital, reaching the age of 89 years, 4 months and 10 days.
During her whole lifetime, her yearning for knowledge and her passion and interest for helping young people never waned. She was baptized as a small child and later confirmed on May 2, 1940 in Williamsburg, Iowa.
