LEROY MESNER
Leroy Mesner, the son of John and Sophia (Ebert) Mesner, was born January 28, 1929 in Caledonia Township in O’Brien County, Iowa. He was baptized on February 24, 1929 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown and later confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. John Lutheran Church.
On December 27, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lillian Gerdes at St. John’s Lutheran Church in LeMars, Iowa. The couple lived in the LeMars area, where Leroy worked as a farm hand. The couple later moved to the Primghar area where he worked as a farm hand until retiring and the couple moved into Primghar. The couple remained in the family home until entering the Primghar Care Center in October of 2004. He passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 76 years, 3 months and 27 days.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. He enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo, he loved to visit and chat with people.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lillian of Primghar, Iowa; two sisters, Marcella Appeldorn and Lu Etta and her husband, Les Dau all of Paullina, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Raymond Appeldorn of Paullina, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Nola Tesch of Everly, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three step-sisters, Frieda Pauling; Lucille Hurtig and Hilda Miller; three step-brothers, Ira; Ray and Reinhard Tesch.
Leroy was a loving and caring husband.
