LEONA A. RIEDEMANN
Leona Ann (Ahrens) Riedemann the daughter of Henry and Dora (Jalas) Ahrens was born on August 26, 1916 at Harris, IA. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Sutherland and in 1928 was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland by Pastor Pauling. She attended school at Sutherland and completed Normal Training at Primghar in 1934. She taught country school at Highland #2 for the next seven years. On April 26, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clifford Riedemann at Fremont, NE. In May she retired from teaching using her savings as a down payment to purchase a farm southwest of Paullina, earning her the title of landlord. In December, 1949 Clifford and Leona purchased the Riedemann Family farm southeast of Germantown where they farmed until their retirement in 1977.
Leona was an active member of St. John Lutheran, helping print Braille materials, Silver and Gold, making quilts, and helping serve at various functions. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, baking, going fishing, making quilts, sewing and spending time with family and friends. Mom was a loving faithful wife, a lifelong teacher to all who walked with her down lifes pathway. One who taught by her actions, her encouraging words of love, serving others first, being humble and recognizing everyones worth in life. No matter the task at hand she would strive to reach her goals. A faithful servant of Christ for 99 plus years.
Leona leaves to cherish her memory of three children, Carol Lowder of Sheldon, IA; Charlotte (Warren) Hartman of Annandale, Minnesota and Dwane (Judy) Riedemann of Sutherland, IA; nine grandchildren, Brenda Langland and special friend, Darrell Hunt, Bridget (Cory) Brown, Brandon (Dana) Lowder, Paul Hartman, Sarah Hartman, Grant (Cheri) Riedemann, Michael (Hilary) Riedemann, Brooke (Zachary) Jackson and Bryan (Tina) Riedemann; step grandchildren, Kurt Kuester and Kim Kuester; 20 great grandchildren, Karissa Langland, Jessica Brown, Emma, Kaylee and Molly Lowder, Gracie and Lilly Hartman, Maxwell, Madelyn and Abigail Hartman, Gavin and Alexa Riedemann, step great grandson, Christopher Myer, Olivia and Sydney Riedemann, Maya and Noah Jackson, Kayla, Curtis and Sarah Riedemann; one step great-great granddaughter, Brooklyn Myer; daughter-in-law, Patricia Riedemann; brother-in-law, Clarence Riedemann; sister-in-law, Lucille Riedemann; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; son, Virgil; son-in-law, Dennis Lowder; her parents; four brothers and four sisters.
