Lee A. Bud Johnson
Lee A. Bud Johnson, the son of Charles and Lilla Lil Petersen Johnson was born October 4, 1927 in Primghar, Iowa. He grew up on a farm south of Primghar and attended Gaza High School where he excelled in playing basketball. He graduated with the Gaza High School class of 1945. He farmed with his father until being called into the Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Bud served from April 1951 until being discharged in April 1953. He returned to the family farm where he continued farming which is now a century farm. On June 2, 1996 he was united in marriage to Lois Tjossem at the United Church of Primghar. After their marriage the couple lived on a farm south of Primghar. They spent many winters enjoying south Texas. The couple moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon to make their home about a year ago. He passed away at Fieldcrest on Thursday January 28, 2016 reaching the age of 88 years 3 months and 24 days.
He was a member of the United Church of Primghar and the Chateau-Thierry Post of the American Legion of Primghar. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and the many fishing and hunting trips with his buddies.
Bud is survived by his wife Lois Tjossem of Sheldon, Iowa, a sister Lois Crawford of Macomb, Illinois; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister and brother-in-law June and Rodney Hughes.
